Why Should I Become a Member of the PHI Cares Membership Program?
As a PHI Cares member, you are supporting a vital community program. Your membership helps offset the high cost of providing medical air transport to you, your family and friends. Your membership also helps to purchase equipment and medical supplies for the helicopters and airplanes. Your membership ensures that this vital service to our community remains active and viable. And, in the event that you or a loved one requires a medically necessary transport from a hospital to another hospital or to be transported from an emergency scene by PHI Air Medical, you will not have any out of pocket charges.
How does this Work?
PHI Air Medical works closely with local fire departments, ground ambulances, law enforcement agencies, medical facilities, and physicians, to ensure safe, expedient, and lifesaving care for our patients.
I was flown by another air ambulance, will my membership cover their bill?
Your membership with PHI Cares will ensure that you are protected when you or a loved one is transferred by PHI Air Medical. Your membership will not cover any charges from another service.
If I am traveling outside my town, am I covered?
YES! There is a new benefit to your PHI Cares membership that will give you the flexibility that you require. Now when you become a member of PHI Cares, your membership extends to all PHI Air Medical Programs nationwide. What this means to you is that if you are transported by any PHI Air Medical Air Ambulance, you are covered by your local membership at no additional cost! (This benefits is subject to local laws and all local service parameters do apply).
If I’m a renewing member, do I have to fill out the application?
Having a current application on file is legally required of PHI Air Medical, and it also ensures, for your protection, that we have your most up-to-date information.
If I’m on a fixed income, is it wise for me to join PHI Cares?
The PHI Cares Membership Program is ideal for anyone that is on a fixed income, who might otherwise have to absorb the portion of the bill not covered by insurance.
If I am transported by ground ambulance to the aircraft, will my membership cover the cost of the ground ambulance?
PHI Cares does not cover ground ambulance charges.
Is PHI Air Medical guaranteed to be available when requested for transport?
PHI Air Medical Ambulance makes every effort to respond to requests from our members. We have flight crews and aircraft on duty and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, one of the following situations could result in PHI Air Medical being unavailable to respond:
- PHI Air Medical may be dedicated to a prior patient transport.
- Weather conditions may prevent flying in your area.
- You may be in a location where our aircraft cannot land, and you have to be transported to the aircraft by a ground ambulance. PHI Air Medical Membership does not cover ground
